Fodera Ryan Martinie Signature 5-String Bass "Black Beauty"
VIDEO
DESCRIPTION
From Fodera:
Born in Peoria, Illinois in 1975, Ryan Martinie has one of the most unique and technical styles in modern bass playing. He grew up studying jazz, classical vocals, and playing in local progressive rock bands. In 1998, he joined the heavy metal band Mudvayne and went on to be at the forefront of the nu-metal genre. Most recently, he’s worked on his own fusion/progressive rock band Soften The Glare. Ryan has also worked as a guest performer with Kurai and as a live member of Korn.
We had the immense pleasure of working with Ryan to develop a new model based on our Monarch body style to meet the demands of his tone and playing style, as well as his ergonomic preference. What we developed together was a Monarch-based 5 string instrument with incredible ergonomics and playability with a tonal range that can cover everything from jazz fusion to progressive rock to heavy metal.
Featuring a 34” scale, 26-fret design with a 16.5mm bridge spacing, the Ryan Martinie Signature “Black Beauty” model meets the demands of his playing style. The body, made of Maple, is capped with a Ebony/Flame Maple top, and paired with a 3-piece Wenge neck and Ebony fingerboard. The tone is massive, harmonically rich, and incredibly touch responsive with a pronounced low and high end attack. It’s unique features are a shortened Monarch body-style with a deeper cutaway, redesigned bolt-on heel cut to allow for easier upper fret access, a new “Zig-Zag” top design, scooped fingerboard end, double-slanted pickup placement, and string-through-body construction. Outfitted with EMG J/J pickups and Fodera Standard Preamp, this model retains the hallmark features of Fodera while accommodating the needs of a player as technical and progressive as Ryan.

INDIVIDUALLY PHOTOGRAPHED
After 15 years of innovation in our photography process, Ish Guitars has developed a way to get you the most accurate true-to-life color of every instrument we sell. We never embellish, oversaturate, or misrepresent our images, so that your buying experience can be as much like visiting our showroom as possible. Keep in mind that various computer screens can show colors a bit differently, so the color on your screen may not match the real thing perfectly no matter how hard we try. Also, unless otherwise noted, we individually list and photo every piece of gear that comes through our doors.

SPECS
Case: The case included with this bass was Ryan's actual case for his Black Beauty. He brought the bass to Fodera for some modifications and left the case there after switching to a flight case when he left for Mudvayne's reunion shows. He thought it would be a cool idea to give it to whoever purchased the first one to leave Fodera! There are a couple scuffs and marks on the case - see our listing photos! Also, the tag for Ryan's bass on the case will not match the serial of your bass.
