Martin Custom Shop Grand Jumbo J-14F Flamed Maple Toasted Burst

DESCRIPTION

Hey ya'll - Jesse here, founder of Ish Guitars. This Grand Jumbo J-14F is a special creation of woods and specs that I hand-selected at the Martin factory. I'm so proud of it that I'm here to give you some background on why this instrument is just -that- awesome.

First of all, the Grand Jumbo size from Martin is a super underrated shape. It gives you all the parts of a Gibson J-200 you know and love but with better ergonomics, better tone, and Martin quality - all at the same time. I specifically dug through piles of wood to find the perfect matching pair of maple top, back, and sides that were large enough for the Grand Jumbo shape.

So, why maple? In a pre-COVID world at the NAMM show, we received 2 Martin showpiece Custom Shop guitars with maple back and sides. They instantly became shop favorites because they sounded so good, and my curiosity for maple on a Martin was piqued. Unexpectedly, it provided a warm yet clear tone that eliminated some of the muddy low end that can be associated with Martin guitars. Long story short - it perfectly balanced the bracing and body designs Martin created so many years ago.

This Grand Jumbo is an execution of what we learned from those NAMM guitars, combined with some other tricks up my sleeve: A stunning toasted burst finish that is unique to Martin, a perfectly figured ebony fretboard, my personal favorite single-hex 12th fret inlay in matching flamed maple, and even a flamed maple pickguard to top it off. 

The goal of Ish Guitars is to push our guitar-building partners into new eras of guitar design, while never leaving their legacy behind them. That's why I'm so proud of this instrument - together with the Custom Shop team at Martin, we absolutely nailed that goal.

All of our guitars come with a FREE professional setup to a comfortable action as specified by that instrument’s manufacturer. Our setups always include inspection of (and necessary adjustment to): action, intonation, tremolo angle, truss rod, frets, nut, bridge, and more. We can accommodate special setup requests - additional charges and/or shipping delays of 1-2 business days could occur.
