1961 Fender Jazz Bass Refin Stacked Knobs Olympic White
Year: 1961
Case: Hardshell Case
Weight: 9.0lbs
Cosmetic Condition: Bass is in very good condition with a good amount of playwear given its age. The hardware components have a bit of corrosion throughout. The body has some checking as well as a handful of dings, chips, and scratches that can be seen in our listing photos. The finish on the neck has been a bit worn through from years of playing but it feels amazing.

Tech Notes:
This bass plays great with medium action and minimal relief. Brand new set of D’Addario XL 45-100 bass strings. To the naked eye, this bass doesn't appear to be refinished at all. However, we know the bass was refinished about 10 years ago by master finisher Dawn at Naked Body Guitars in Bohemia, NY. From a luthier's perspective, this refinishing is by some of the best relicing I have seen. Dawn informed us that the customer sanded the guitar down in hopes to refinish but sanded a bit too much. She precisely sanded further to restore the proper body contour, but it is so well done it is undetectable.
The body is dated properly to 1961 and the electronics confirm this. The pickups appear to be original and sound great! The restoration was done with lacquer, uv faded and finished checked using heating and cooling. The pickguard appears to be original due to the glow under blacklight but is hard to verify. The bridge, tuners, ashtrays, electronics and rest of the hardware appear to be totally original. However most of the pickguard and ashtray screws look to be non original replacements. The neck is genuine and dates to 1965. The neck appears to have been refretted and possibly a new nut. It appears the front of the headstock was over sprayed with lacquer to reseal in the logo. All these changes to the neck appear to be well done, however during the refret it looks like the crowning tool may have dug into the fretboard a bit (see photos). The top of the body has a few holes drilled in, I am unsure what these were from but they are hidden by the ashtray. The tuners can be slightly stiff, but turn fine and hold tune very well. Please ask if you have any questions.
