A tribute to a legend.
We purchased this guitar from a studio in Montreal. They owned it for about 20 years and thought it was a 6120 - come to find out this guitar started life as a 6119 Anniversary (I think) and was modified back in the day to look like a 6120. The guitar has been refinished and some parts are not original to the guitar. The finish is of an extraordinary quality, honestly it could be better than the original! The very thin nitro-cellulose has been applied by a master luthier in Montreal and is over 20 years old. All the non-original parts came directly from Duke Kramer from his personal NOS parts for the restoration of the instrument. Asking prices on Reverb right now for an original Gretsch 6120 is $14000+. Asking prices for an original 6119 Anniversary are $5000+. Get this guitar for only $2799!
This started as a 1 pickup, 1 volume knob, 1 switch guitar. The second (neck) pickup was added later as well as the second switch and the 2 knobs near the Bigsby. The Bigsby is 60's era but likely came off a thinner bodied Gretsch.
1 pickup is older and 1 is newer, see photos for the routes and backside photos. I am not sure of the exact dates of these but from my research I believe 1 is original and the other is from a different time period of Gretsch.
Incredible price for a real F hole Gretsch!
Fully functioning, plays incredibly (as you may know, not all early Gretsch's play good!), and sounds fantastic!
Does not include any case or bag, but we have Gretsch cases and bags in stock that we could add (we are a Gretsch dealer also). 6lb 13oz makes this a nice lightweight guitar! Priced reasonably, please no lowballs offers.
