1981 Gibson ES-175 Sunburst
SETUP & INSPECTED BY OUR LUTHIER
Case: Original Hardshell Case
Weight: 7.3 lbs
Cosmetic condition: Guitar is in very good condition. There are plenty of dings and scratches throughout the guitar. There are a few finish imperfections on the back of the neck as well. Drill hole in the body near the joint where the body and neck meet. Please see our listing photos for a closer look at this guitar.
Tech Notes: Guitar, Hardware, and Electronics were cleaned/tested and are functioning appropriately. There is still some light scratching on the bridge volume knob. Setup with minimal relief, comfortable low action and D'Addario Chromes 12 - 52 gauge. Plays evenly throughout the entire neck.
scale length: 24.75"
nut width: 1 11/16"
12th width: 2.07"
1st fret thickness: .792"
10th fret thickness: .975"
radius: 12"
The nut of the guitar is not original, as we received it, and required a small lift on the high E string to avoid 1st fret buzz. The guitar was re-fretted at one point before we owned it and it was done very well.
The original owner also added a passive piezo. The controls are as follows:
- Pickup Switch Controls
Up = Neck Magnetic Pickup
Down = Bridge Pickup
Middle = Neck/Bridge Magnetic and Piezo
- Neck Volume/Tone are black knobs (closest to neck = Volume).
- Bridge Volume/Tone are the TOPS of the chrome knobs (closest to neck = Volume).
- Piezo Volume/Tone are the BOTTOMS of the chrome knobs (closest to neck = Volume).
Output Jack (Stereo)
- When using a MONO Cable (standard instrument cable) you will only hear the Magnetic Pickup Signal.
- If you use STEREO Cable you also need use a Left/Right Split adapter to send the Magnetic and Piezo Signals out separately.
Overall a great added feature to the guitar. This came from a great local collector/player who primarily used it for jazz gigs running a stereo amp setup (Roland Chorus and Fender Deville).
