Fodera Martinie "Blondie" Standard 5-String Bass
DESCRIPTION
Born in Peoria, Illinois in 1975, Ryan Martinie has one of the most unique and technical styles in modern bass playing. He grew up studying jazz, classical vocals, and playing in local progressive rock bands. In 1998, he joined the heavy metal band Mudvayne and went on to be at the forefront of the nu-metal genre. Most recently, he’s worked on his own fusion/progressive rock band Soften The Glare. Ryan has also worked as a guest performer with Kurai and as a live member of Korn.
We had the immense pleasure of working with Ryan to develop a new model based on our Monarch body style to meet the demands of his tone and playing style, as well as his ergonomic preference. What we developed together was a Monarch-based 5 string instrument with incredible ergonomics and playability with a tonal range that can cover everything from jazz fusion to progressive rock to heavy metal.
Featuring a 34” scale, 26-fret design with a 16.5mm bridge spacing, the Ryan Martinie Signature “Blondie” model meets the demands of his playing style. The body, made of Korina, is capped with a Quilted Maple/Pomelle Sapele top, and paired with a 3-piece Wenge neck and Ebony fingerboard. The tone is massive, harmonically rich, and incredibly touch responsive with a focused and pronounced midrange. It’s unique features are a shortened Monarch body-style with a deeper cutaway, redesigned bolt-on heel cut to allow for easier upper fret access, a new “Zig-Zag” top design, scooped fingerboard end, double-slanted pickup placement, and string-through-body construction. Outfitted with EMG J/J pickups and Fodera Standard Preamp, this model retains the hallmark features of Fodera while accommodating the needs of a player as technical and progressive as Ryan.
SETUP & INSPECTED BY OUR TECH TEAM
All of our guitars come with a FREE professional setup tailored to your individual tuning and string gauge preferences, if available. Our setups always include action, intonation, trem angle, and truss rod adjustments. If needed, we smooth out fret edges, address any nut or bridge shim issues, polish the frets, and condition the fingerboard. All work is completed by our experienced tech team who understand what today's players want from their instruments. If not otherwise requested our techs will setup each instrument to a comfortable medium/low action with minimal truss rod relief dependent on the instrument style. Please reach out after purchase if you have any specific requests about your setup.
INDIVIDUALLY PHOTOGRAPHED
Our photos are professionally lit and edited to accurately represent the instrument's true colors. We never embellish, oversaturate or misrepresent our images. We understand that purchasing a guitar online can be difficult. That is why, unless otherwise noted, Ish Guitars always individually photographs and lists each instrument with painstaking precision so that you can be confident in your purchase.
