Very cool piece of Gibson history. We did a lot of research prior to listing this mandolin, we are a guitar shop and are much more versed in the guitar world, but did our best to describe and date this piece. The mandolin doesn't have a serial number, but does have some markings inside the f hole that we believe is a Factory Order Number. According to Reverb.com's article on dating Gibson mandolins with an FON, this mandolin would have been made between 1931-1934 (https://reverb.com/news/how-to-date-a-gibson-using-serial-numbers-fons-and-logos). The Gibson headstock logo script also matches the 30's era. Based on this information we believe this is a 1930s Gibson A50 Mandolin. It is in great condition considering its age. There are various signs of wear throughout the instrument, but nothing too crazy considering how long it has been kickin around!
