Ish’s latest PRS Private Stock collaboration: the Custom 24 Piezo Olive Drab Green “Opaque Study”.

Why do we call this a “study”? When pushing the boundaries of guitar spec’ing, we sometimes deep-dive into the thought process behind the design of an instrument and study the execution of a build so that we can use it to influence our future designs. This is one of those guitars.

The question: how do we produce an opaque-painted guitar that is worthy of the Private Stock moniker?

The solution: An analogous color pallet inspired by a Lamborghini Huracan STO. The Olive Drab Green color allowed us to use the natural color palette in roasted flamed maple (combined with gold hardware) for the ultimate, cohesive mix of tonewood and aesthetics.

Further touches like no pickup rings, wrap-around stoptail, and back plates that match the neck and binding were added to keep the guitar clean-yet-detail-oriented. The longer you look at this piece, the more small details you notice.

And boy, did the Private Stock team deliver… They collaborated with us to make sure this guitar was truly special, and perfectly executed our vision. We absolutely will be using this piece for future inspiration, the true definition of a “study”.
