I met Jens Ritter at my first NAMM show in the winter of 2010 at the age of 16 - he had an incredible bass at his booth on display, a Roya 5 String (doublecut) with a sandblasted quilted redwood body. I played it, couldn't afford it, and could never forget it.

Fast forward to almost 10 years later, and we are 1 of only 7 Ritter dealers in the world - at the NAMM show I asked Jens if we could make a similar bass to that one way back in 2010, and of course he already had the perfect piece of quilted redwood in his wood stash. This time I wanted to see the sandblasting process done on the curvy R8 Singlecut body shape.
This R8 Singlecut in Sandblased Quilted Redwood fully satisfied those NAMM desires from 10 years ago and then some. Check out the incredible detail in the close up photos - the grain is extremely deep and tactile - it truly feels like you are holding a trunk of a tree, haha!
On the neck, Ritter used his signature "damaged desktop" finish, inspired by schoolroom desktops that kids have carved their names into over the years. Although it looks textured and worn, its almost perfectly smooth to the touch.
Every Ritter is a masterpiece and this R8 Singlecut is no different. The neck is on the chunky side with slimmer shoulders but pretty deep front to back. Even still, it plays incredibly fast due to the excellent build quality as smooth satin neck.
See our demo video to hear how it sounds, SUPER warm and SUPER fat due to the solid redwood body.
We used Ritter custom made humbuckers and preamp in this build, which can be switched to single coil mode independently as well as passive mode. There is an adjustable mid frequency as well.
Includes Ritter flight case. 7.3 lb weight makes this pretty lady nice and light too.
Buy it today - once this bass is gone, its gone!
